International Youth Day 2016
During the United Nations General Assembly on the 25th September 2015, world leaders have unanimously adopted the Sustainable Development Goals, a set of 17 goals aiming to transform the world in the next 15 years.
August 12 is International Youth Day and the theme for this year is “The Road to 2030: Eradicating Poverty and Achieving Sustainable Production and Consumption”.
As iterated by the United Nations, the Sustainable Development Goals are ambitious, and they require enormous effort across countries, continents, industries, and disciplines to materialize them – but they are achievable.
The Centre for Psychological and Counselling Services (CPCS) of HELP University has decided to play a role by contributing its effort in the Sustainable Development Goal 3, which is to “ensure healthy life and promote well-being for all at all ages”, specifically focusing on clause 3.4 that is “by 2030, reduce by one third premature mortality from non-communicable diseases through prevention and treatment and promote mental health and well-being”.
CPCS will focus its efforts on prevention through education of behavioral health to the people in the university setting. The approach that CPCS adopts is to educate through games, aiming not only to convey the message of behavioral health to support the health sustainable goal, but to also to teach leadership, communication, collaboration, and teamwork to youth, so that the overall outcome would support the broader International Youth Day theme of Youth Leading Sustainability.
