I was inspired to pursue clinical psychology after interning at Hospital Sentosa Kuching, where I witnessed the impact of mental health treatment on people’s lives. Although it was challenging, it was also very fulfilling. I still remember the smile on a teenager's face when he shared with me that he was no longer having suicidal thoughts. It was a moment that spoke volumes about the impact of mental health treatment.
I was also privileged enough to work with people forced to flee conflict and persecution - asylum seekers and refugees in Malaysia. These experiences exposed me to the reality of mental healthcare challenges in our society and fuelled my drive to advocate for mental health awareness, work towards reducing mental health stigma, and promote the idea that seeking professional mental health assistance is a courageous step towards growth and healing. I believe that by normalising the behaviour of seeking professional mental health assistance, we can make a real difference in the lives of people.
As your therapist, I hope to provide a safe and supportive environment that allows for collaboration, growth and healing. Therapy can be daunting for many, but I can walk alongside you.
