For as long as I can remember, the two biggest struggles in my life were academics and anxiety. Dealing with each was tough enough on its own; however, the battle became greatly exacerbated when my family and I moved to Singapore when I was 12.
Fortunately, I had the benefit and privilege of receiving a lot of emotional and mental support during that period which helped me to cope reasonably well. Even though it took years and a lot of effort to overcome each issue bit by bit, I was grateful I did not have to do so on my own.
After experiencing the impact of getting help through an environment that was safe, accepting, and non-judgmental, my interest in pursuing a career in counselling grew immensely.
As your counsellor, my hope is to provide a similar environment so you may feel secure to share, explore, and grow in whatever you may be going through. It would be an honour to be part of that journey with you.
